Questions and answers
Questions, with straight answers.
What LawPal does, what it refuses to do, and what happens to a firm's papers. If yours isn't here, write to info@lawpal.lk.
- What is in the library?
- Sri Lankan judgments and Acts, searched on the facts of a question, not only on a citation. The live count couldn't be read just now.
- Can it be wrong?
- Yes. Automated output can be wrong, which is why every passage carries the judgment or section it came from: check it against the source before relying on it. Where the material doesn't answer a question, LawPal says so.
- Does it know whether a judgment is still good law?
- No. Nothing in LawPal checks whether a judgment is still good law. Where a later judgment in the library treats an earlier one negatively, LawPal can flag it, but it never marks a judgment as good law.
- If a search finds nothing, does that mean nothing exists?
- No. LawPal can only search what the library holds, and the search screen says which courts and years that covers. Nothing found is not proof that nothing exists.
